The school’s aims in Religious Education are:
To promote spiritual, moral, cultural and mental development.
To develop learners enthusiasm and enjoyment of Religious Education.
To promote the teaching of Numeracy and Literacy within Religious Education by using the Literacy and Numeracy Framework.
We offer pupils a broad and balanced Religious Education curriculum in order to promote effective learning opportunities based on the Foundation Phase Framework and Key Stage 2 National Curriculum 2008 and Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education. Religious Education is taught as a discrete subject but wherever possible, links between subject areas are harnessed and developed effectively. The formal requirements of the National Curriculum are supported with enriched and varied learning opportunities by a range of visits and visitors that the school organises. The long term planning is an overview of the Religious Education topics studied in each term in Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2. Medium term planning gives details of each unit of work for each term. Short term planning is a teachers individual age phase planning.
